ABOUT KIRK
Kirk returned to the Board of Supervisors on Dec. 19, 2006 to fill the vacancy created after 4th District Supervisor Ted Gaines was elected to the State Assembly in November. At the Dec. 19 meeting, the four remaining board members selected Kirk from a field of five candidates who applied to serve the final two years of Gaines’ term. Kirk was sworn into office immediately after the vote.
Kirk represented the 4th District on the Board of Supervisors from 1993-96. He was only 25 years old when elected to the post, becoming the second youngest Supervisor in California history.
Kirk has served as the District Director for a United States Congressman, responsible for all district office operations, budgeting, hiring and community outreach.
Kirk has also served as Chief Operating Officer of the Electric and Gas Industries Association. In that job, he directed the creation and development of the association’s for-profit subsidiary. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, Kirk had responsibility for five different business units employing more than 70 people.
Prior to joining the association, Kirk was a founding employee of CarsDirect.com, where he set up and managed the company’s national dealership network. As Senior Director for Dealer and Industry Relations, he personally opened offices in 15 cities around the country. Additionally, he developed vehicle-sourcing protocols that helped CarsDirect.com secure its vehicle inventory at below-market prices. During his time at CarsDirect.com, Kirk trained and supervised approximately 200 field personnel, vehicle-locating specialists and sales staff.
Kirk has extensive media experience as well. He is a fill-in radio talk show host for the top-rated radio station in Sacramento, and has been a newspaper columnist and a radio news reporter.
A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Kirk has been a Placer County resident since 1970. He is an Eagle Scout from Granite Bay Troop 121. Kirk and his wife, Tami, Assistant Director of Placer County Child Support Services, currently live in Granite Bay with their daughter, and son.
