First elected to the Placer County Board of Supervisors in 1992, Kirk Uhler started his service as a County Supervisor to combat the overspending and fiscal mis-management of previous boards. In 2006, Kirk was appointed back to the Board, continuing the same objective he had when first elected, ensuring strong fiscal management of Placer County taxpayer money.
While local government agencies up and down California struggled with poor fiscal management, Placer County stands atop with a well balanced budget and a strong dedicated workforce delivering high quality services to its residents.

Fiscal Management
Supervisor Kirk Uhler has a proven track record of strong fiscal management. He’s steered Placer County into reduced general fund spending without service reductions. He’s contracted out services to improve our economy and save taxpayer dollars. Kirk has led the charge to require county employees pay their fair share of pension and healthcare costs. Placer County manged through the recession and came out stronger – reduced unfunded liabilities by hundreds of millions of dollars, funded tens of millions in infrastructure improvements, and added tens of millions to capital and general reserves.
Transportation Planning
Placer Parkway:
Under Uhler's leadership and efforts as Chairman of the South Placer Area Regional Transportation Planning Agency, the Placer Parkway, a sixteen mile connection from Highway 65 to Highways 99/70, is now under construction. When completed, the Placer Parkway will take a significant amount of traffic off of Interstate 80 and Highway 65.
Auburn-Folsom Widening:
Supervisor Uhler was successful in obtaining $8 million in regional traffic fees for the Auburn-Folsom widening, giving us four traffic lanes from Douglas Boulevard all the way to Highway 50.
Community Planning
Placer County Conservation Plan
Supervisor Uhler serves as one of two Supervisors on the Placer County Conservation Plan (PCCP) ad-hoc committee. The PCCP serves as the blueprint for the cooperative growth of the cities and the county, collaboratively placing over 80,000 acres of wildlife habitat into conservation in perpetuity.
Granite Bay Community Plan
Supervisor Uhler and his office worked with community members, Placer County Planning Department staff and the Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Council to update and re-certify the Granite Bay Community Plan that was adopted in 1989. By setting goals and policies for Granite Bay that are distinct from those applied countywide, the Community Plan outlines how Placer County will manage growth while retaining Granite Bay's unique attributes.
